Drunk

The Definite Drinker's Dictionary

by Paul Dickson
Drunk: The Definite Drinker's Dictionary

A unique concoction of English etymology and alcoholic word play, including exactly 2,964 synonyms for everything from a light buzz to being dizzyingly wasted, "Drunk" is sure to entertain anybody looking for a book on liquor with a literary bent. The synonyms are often listed along with colorful histories that come from all over the English language, including everything from Shakespeare, Dostoevsky and Stephen King to even a couple from "The Simpsons."

From The United Kingdom, The United States, or Australia, if there’s a colorful synonym for any imaginable state of inebriation, it’s in the book. Occasionally, the words are also accompanied by pictures, which help to wrap your head around some of the more picturesque entries. A couple of favorites include rockaputzered, Dean Martoonied, salubrious, bazookaed out of my endo, and scoobied.
