Profile: Patz & Hall is a boutique winery built on friendship, as it was founded in 1988 by four friends and their respective families. A truly successful collaboration, the winery is recognized as one of the Napa Valley's premier producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Tasting
Notes:
The 2006 Alder Springs is made from grapes grown at 2,600 ft — one of the highest Chardonnay vineyards in California. The result is a complex and sophisticated Chardonnay. On the nose, the wine offers aromas of pear, peach, lemon, cinnamon and toast. In the mouth, there are layers of pineapple, peaches and pears, honey and baking spice. Tropical fruit acidity gives the wine mouthwatering freshness, yet its spicy, toasty notes at the back of the palate lend a food-friendliness to the style. Enjoy it as an aperitif or serve with herb roast chicken, Mediterranean-flavored tuna or pork loin with a stone fruit compote. The wine would also work well at the end of the meal as an accompaniment to a cinnamon and hazelnut biscotti.
