Diamond Standard Vodka Review

Diamond Standard Vodka

Diamonds are a Grain’s Best Friend

As more and more consumers clamor for deals on cars, restaurants, hotels and consumer items, Diamond Beverages is bucking the tide with its national roll-out of Diamond Standard Vodka. While $30 is considered a reasonable price for an “Ultra-Premium” vodka like Chopin, and a fine product such as Tito’s Handmade Vodka will only set drinkers back $18, this new release lists at a staggering $79.

The product’s packaging reflects the premium price, as each bottle contains a round-cut 25mm Swarovski crystal. As a holiday gift, it certainly makes for a noteworthy presentation. But what about the contents?

The pure-grain Polish export is made from rye, distilled four times and filtered four times. Part of the production utilized a diamond filtration process which involves the use of thousands of DeBeers diamonds. It may be a gimmick, but we found the vodka to be surprisingly good: clean-tasting, with a substantial mouthfeel and a pleasant after-taste.

We only tried this self-described “Luxury Vodka” neat, as we feel using Diamond Standard Vodka as a cocktail ingredient is like taking the Ferrari to the grocery store. But if you feel mixers are necessary, try the Diamond Mojito, a vodka twist on the classic rum cocktail.

Price: $79 for 750 ml
