Tuesdays
Taverna Fiorentina is hosting a weekly wine tasting series on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Each week will feature a different theme, beginning with white Italian wines. Some themes will focus on bubbles, others on specific grape types, and still others perhaps on sweet dessert wines. It's a great opportunity to expand your wine knowledge. For $18 per person, exclusive of tax and gratuity, guests may enjoy five different wines and complimentary antipasti from chef Andrea Montobbio. First Tuesdays
Eclipse di Luna hosts ongoing wine tastings featuring tapas and a bottomless glass of wine on the first Tuesday of every month. Guests may taste up to eight varieties of wine. Third Thursdays
On the third Thursday of every month at Restaurant Eugene, chef-owner Linton Hopkins invites guests for his monthly cheese tasting series, “Cheese Eugene,” selecting from the restaurant's 26-28 cheeses. Each sampling will feature cheeses from different regions of the world. The tastings are limited to 17 people. Five wines are paired with five cheeses for $50 per person plus tax and gratuity. Every Saturday from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., Vino 100 in Alpharetta holds a wine tasting that benefits a given charity. For the month of August, the charity is Angels Among Us, a pet rescue organization. A variety of wines will be explored at the tastings, and wine knowledgeable staffers are present to answer questions. Light snacks will be available. The Atlanta Wine School is offering a series of Saturday afternoon wine tastings from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at the school's location (1570 Holcomb Bridge Rd., Roswell), less than one mile east of GA 400. No reservation is required, and you can drop in at any point between those times. Six or more wines will be available for tasting, all of which will have been personally pre-tasted by director Michael Bryan, who says, "If I won't buy them, I won't serve them to you." AWS experts also will be available to answer questions. Value selections will be featured, with most choices costing under $20 a bottle. Antipasti will be served. Cost to attend the tasting is $10 per person, refunded with the purchase of six or more bottles from J's Beverage Depot adjacent to the school.
