Dallas wineries invite you to taste their wines at the Second Annual Dallas Wine Trail. The Grand Tasting kicks off at 11 a.m. and ends promptly at 5 p.m.; visit all four wineries at their respective locations, with driving time between wineries approximately 15 to 20 minutes. You must start at either Times Ten Cellars or at Fuqua Winery where you will pick up your ticket, a Dallas Wine Trail crystal wine glass, and your very own bottle of premium wine. From there, you will go on to the next winery of your choice and continue on until you've been to each winery. Be sure to bring your ticket and glass with you. The cost is $39 per person, and tickets must be purchased online by visiting http://www.dallaswinetrail.com. There will not be any tickets available at the door. Mondavi Families will pair up with Morton's The Steakhouse to host a Virtual Wine Dinner. The event, which will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, will be broadcast live from Charles Krug Winery to the private dining rooms of 53 Morton's locations at 7 p.m. Guests in all locations will be served the exact same four-course meal, which will include Morton's brand new menu items and pairings of Mondavi wine. Guests will also be invited to bid in a silent auction for a three-pack of premium wines from Charles Krug Winery, Continuum Estate and Folio Fine Wine Partners, with proceeds to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Chef Charlie Palmer and Charlie Palmer at The Joule's executive chef Scott Romano will host The Big Red Epicurean Benefit at The Joule, Dallas hotel, an event celebrating Texas wine and agriculture. The festivities begin on Friday with the Taste of The Big Red, where guests will be able to sample various wines from 20 Texas wineries as well as dishes from Charlie Palmer and guest chefs. Saturday's events include the "Red, Red Wine & Cheese" tasting, Texas Tournament Cook-Off with chef Dean Fearing (Fearing's) and Michael (The Dining Room) and Brian Voltaggio (VOLT) from "Top Chef," Texas Red Hoe-Down, and The Big Red Gala dinner. Sunday morning will feature a brunch at Charlie Palmer at The Joule. Special weekend packages and a la carte tickets are available by calling 214-261-4503. First Thursday
The Bishop Arts District in North Oak Cliff continues to draw new and old patrons with its hip urban élan and ever-evolving restaurant/shopping scene. Now, the district has put together a First Thursdays Wine Walk, where you can pick up a wine glass for $5 at any one of the tents set up along Bishop Avenue and refill the glass for free at area shops. Prowl through the vintage duds at Zola's or get some all-natural treats for your pooch at Green Pet as you sip, stroll, and shop. Steel Restaurant & Lounge hosts Kampai Thursdays and Swirl Sundays. Crú A Wine Bar in West Village continues their ongoing Half-Price Champagne Night every Thursday. Bottles of Champagne and a variety of sparkling wines will be available for guests to enjoy at a fraction of the price. A Sharing Menu is also available, providing diners with a light post-work or pre-dinner appetizer selection, which includes gourmet cheese flights, oven baked pizzas, and fried finger-foods. Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays
Dali Wine Bar & Cellar hosts three weekly events: BYOB Sundays, Monday Half-Priced Wines, and New Release Night on Tuesdays. On Sundays, corkage fees are waived for all guests. Diners can enjoy their own favorite bottle from home accompanied by a dish from the restaurant's menu. Every Monday, half-priced wines by the glass will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Tuesdays wine tastings have been deemed New Release Night providing an array of newly released boutique and varietal blends (the tasting fee is $15 per person for five two-ounce pours).
