November 7
The Third Annual Chocolate Festival of Texas & Texas Wines event will be held at the Sheraton North Houston from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Throughout Saturday, visitors will be able to enjoy offerings from local and national chocolatiers, chefs and bakeries, which will be serving delicacies such as fine chocolates, truffles, bon-bons, and fondues. Guests will also be able to enjoy Texan wine samples. Rounding out the day's activities will be special cooking classes and demonstrations, a silent auction, more than 50 vendors, and a kid's chocolate experience. General admission costs $25 in advance; $30 at the door. Tickets for children cost $5 (kids aged six and under are free). Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse will hold a La Jota Vineyard Company & Cardinale Winery vintner dinner at 7:00 p.m. Pairings include grilled shellfish cioppino with smoked paprika and 2003 La Jota Wine Company's Howell Mountain Cabernet Franc; and Tomahawk ribeye steak with butternut squash risotto, bordelaise sauce and 2002 and 2005 Cardinale Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons. November 19
With the holidays approaching, Leibman's Wine & Fine Foods will host a Holiday Wine Pairings workshop. The 7:00 p.m. class will explain which wines pair best with holiday feasts, no matter what's being served. Attendees will also enjoy light hors d'oeuvres and wine tasting.
