September 14 The Best Cellars Celebrity Dinner is heading to Houston. The September 14 event will feature a four-course meal prepared by guest chefs, Robert Del Grande of Houston’s RDG + Bar Annie and Dallas’s Dean Fearing of Fearing’s. The chefs’ band---The Barbwires---will also perform. The Best Cellars Celebrity Dinner concept was started in Nashville ten years ago by music industry executives associated with the T.J. Martell Foundation. The event pairs Best Sellers (music and entertainment celebrities) with Best Cellars (top wine collectors). Proceeds from the dinner will benefit The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Sponsorships and tables are available for the Best Cellars Celebrity Dinner starting at $7,500 per table. Tickets will be sold individually for $1,000. September 25-26 The Houston Wine Fest launches its inaugural event, combining local culture, food, entertainment and, of course, wine. The festival will be held on Saturday from noon-10p.m. and Sunday noon-8p.m. at Sam Houston Park. Over 200 local and international wines will be showcased including selections from South Africa and Italy, and many Houston restaurants will be preparing food samples. The Houston Symphony and other local musical talents will perform live throughout the weekend. Tickets range from a $10 Designated Driver (no wine tickets) to a $175 Combo VIP Pass (two day inclusive all-access pass). A percentage of the proceeds are promised to the Texas Children's Hospital. October 7 Mondavi Families will pair up with Morton's The Steakhouse to host a Virtual Wine Dinner. The event, which will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, will be broadcast live from Charles Krug Winery to the private dining rooms of 53 Morton's locations at 7 p.m. Guests in all locations will be served the exact same four-course meal, which will include Morton's brand new menu items and pairings of Mondavi wine. Guests will also be invited to bid in a silent auction for a three-pack of premium wines from Charles Krug Winery, Continuum Estate and Folio Fine Wine Partners, with proceeds to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Local participating restaurants include the Houston Galleria location of Morton's The Steakhouse. November 18 The Soirée Beaujolais and Beyond, Houston's 27th annual French-American wine and food festival, will be held at the JW Marriott. Marking the arrival of this season's newest wines, local chefs pair gourmet food with a wide variety of French and American vintages. Guests are encouraged to participate in the silent auction featuring hotel packages and luxury items. Password will perform live, offering a mixture of musical styles from jazz to country. Pre-sale tickets are priced at $35 for members of the French-American Chamber of Commerce and $55 for non-members. Tickets are sold for $60 at the door for both members and non-members.
