November 27-29
Wine tasting season in Oregon's Willamette Valley begins with the 2009 Wine Country Thanksgiving weekend held right after the holiday. Visitors will be able to explore the pastoral beauty of the valley and taste a wide range of Oregon wine from more than 140 wineries. Many family-owned wineries, only open to the public during Thanksgiving and Memorial Day weekends, offer a chance to meet the winemakers and sample new releases. Hours are between 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Each winery organizes various events ranging from artisan food tasting of local cheeses and hand-dipped truffles to art displays and live music. For more information, call 503-646-2985, or visit www.willamettewines.com.
