Get bubbly at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington D.C. for the 2009 Tour de Champagne DC event starting at 7:00 p.m. More than 20 Champagne houses, local restaurants and celebrity chefs will be on hand to celebrate French gastronomy. A silent auction will also be held. Each stop along the evening's tour will feature various labels paired to different food. VIP admission includes a fin de soirée where guests will be able to mingle with chefs and Champagne masters, and enjoy live music with complimentary sparklers, Cognac and desserts. Participating Champagne brands include Bollinger, Gaston Chiquet, Lanson, Moet & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and Vilmart & Cie. Main event tickets cost $115 per person; VIP admission costs $150 per person. Cocktail attire is required. Park Hyatt Washington has introduced a new wine program showcasing an extensive selection of high-end wines seldom offered by the glass. Prices begin at $9 for a glass of Merlot Novelty Hill and go up to $50 for a glass of Caymus Special Select 2004. Monday-Friday
The "Hour of Power" takes place Monday through Friday from 5 p.m.-6 p.m. in the lounge at The Source by Wolfgang Puck. This happy hour alternative features a trio of food items paired with a flight of wines for $25 per person (exclusive of tax and gratuity). Executive chef Scott Drewno kick-starts his new menu with a trio pairing in which guests can enjoy three types of dumplings, each matched with a specially selected glass of wine. Offerings will change frequently and future specialties will include trios of soups, spring rolls and ribs. Wednesdays
Chef Geoff's hosts a weekly Wine Time Wednesday, with a flight of six wines available for $15. Each flight will follow a selected theme. On the last Monday of every month Cheff Geoff's features half-price special selections, with the right side of the wine list available at half price.
