TASTING NOTES

Brophy Clark Cellars

Sauvignon Blanc
Varietal/Style: Sauvignon Blanc
Origin: Santa Barbara County
& San Luis Obispo County
Vintage: 1998
Winemaker: John Clark
Rating: 12/20
Retail Price: $12

Tasting Notes: This 100% barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc was treated to six months of barrel aging in four year old French oak. The result is a distinct style of wine exhibiting generous green wood and toast integrated with melon and citrus flavors. Don't expect any of the herbaceousness common in many Sauvignon Blancs. This wine's flavors far more resemble the full body and woody extractions of a lightly aged, quality Chardonnay while maintaining the crisp finish typical of its varietal. (Date tasted 03/03/00)

Profile: This husband and wife winemaking team draw on over twenty years of industry experience to produce every hand-crafted bottle of their Central Coast, boutique wines. Establishing their cellars in 1996, husband John Clark divides his time between making wines for Laetitia, one of Central California's most highly regarded wineries, and producing Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc with his wife, Kelley Brophy Clark, owner of Central Coast Vineyard Consulting.
