TASTING NOTES

Bouchaine

Rosé Pinot Noir
Varietal/Style: Rosé
Origin: Carneros, CA
Vintage:
1999
Winemaker: David Stevens
Rating: 12.5/20
Retail Price: $13

Tasting Notes: Rosé has been a passion for winemaker David Stevens, and this is Bouchaine's first experiment with that style. At only 125 cases, we're amazed the winery could afford to keep the price so reasonable. The wine is predictable but pleasing with a light body, cherry aromas and flavors and a clean finish. (Date tasted 08/26/00)

Profile: Based in the Carneros region, which is highly regarded for its cool-climate growing conditions, Bouchaine has a knack for Pinot Noir. In addition to a legacy of Burgundian-style Pinots, the winery's new winemaker, David Stevens has an understanding of Carneros fruit—Stevens formerly made wines with Domaine Chandon—and added a rosé of Pinot Noir to the mix. We look forward to sampling his future releases.
