TASTING NOTES

Westrey Wine Company

1999 Pinot Gris

Vintage:
1999
Winemaker: Amy Wesselman
and David Autrey
Rating: 12/20

Tasting Notes: This Oregon Pinot Gris is full of body and creamy on the palate but flat on finish. Flavors and aromas are racy and grassy, the kind that send shockwaves to the taste buds like some of the wilder New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, but the grass turns bitter at the back of the palate. Although it is a well-made wine, its evolution of flavors is something of an acquired taste. (Date tasted 11/5/00)

Profile: A partnership in name and theory, Westrey is a joint venture between winemakers Amy Wesselman and David Autrey. Expanding in production each year since its founding in 1993, Westrey is committed to holding its production to under 6,000 to maintain a hands-on level of quality control.
