Brassfield Estate Winery Profile

Brassfield's High Valley vineyards

Winemaker Kevin Robinson and proprietor Jerry Brassfield took advantage of the ideal grape-growing conditions of the volcanic and alluvial soils in the High Valley AVA and planted more than 240 acres of premium vineyards north of Clear Lake. The cool valley where the vineyard is located nurtures white varietals to produce outstanding Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc, while the warmer hillsides are the perfect environment for reds like Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot. Thirty picnic areas throughout the vineyards provide quiet, rustic and romantic retreats beneath centuries-old oak trees, perfect for sipping Brassfield’s many wines.

Tasting Notes: Clear Lake, California? Yes there are quite a few vineyards up there. As a matter of fact, many Napa wineries source their fruit there because it is not far away. With outstanding volcanic soils and a stupefying cooling lake effect, this newcomer benefits from a privileged terroir. Look for interesting bottles coming from the High Valley AVA. For now, we bring to you a crisp, clear and refreshing Pinot Grigio with a sweet nose. The wine is packed with tropical flavors of pineapple, mango and lychee. A medium body reveals good structure and nice acid balance. As a matter of fact, a tart character comes to the back of our mouths. We’ve had it with garlic noodles and black cod.
